President Obama’s abrupt changes to NASA’s human space program with his FY 2011 budget lead to controversy and uncertainty over the future of human space flight, which I am sure the president did not intend, but which can happen again after the next election. To insulate NASA from Washington politics and protect it from future abrupt changes in policy, President Obama should support the introduction of the Space Leadership Act(http://wolf.house.gov/uploads/Space_Leadership_Act.pdf) into the 113th congress and commit to signing it into law.
