Support a Balanced Bill amendment to the federal constitution

Created by C.H. on October 12, 2011

A Balanced Bill amendment would require that every piece of spending legislation detail how the spending will be paid.

Unlike a Balanced Budget amendment, a Balanced Bill amendment would permit the government to run a deficit in times of crisis or innovation, since the procurement of revenue does not necessarily have to commence at the same time as the spending. In this way, a Balanced Bill amendment would preserve the financial stability of the nation while also ensuring political and economic flexibility.
