Support a Balanced Budget Amendment

Created by R.S. on November 21, 2012

This amendment would require that with the exception of a war officially declared by Congress, the President shall propose a balanced budget and Congress would be required to pass a balanced budget. Failure to do so would result in automatic across the board cuts in government outlays so the budget comes out balanced. In addition, no federal elected official would receive a pay raise. This amend would also empower the Secretary of the Treasury, int the event that a budget is passed with a deficit to withhold salaries of public office holders until a balanced budget is enacted. This amendment would also provide the President with a line-item veto.
