Hawaii is a very special state to fly GA aircrafts.
For example, it has a special airport identifier system instead of the K. For training, it has special rules such as the "shorter" straight line 150 NM rule than the normal 250 NM rule for the commercial pilot students.
At many aspects, Hawaii don't seem like a US state.
But, the main area that needs to change is the sad old terminals for the GA airports. Just go to PHKO, Kona airport for example. The GA terminal is made up of full size trailer housing. There are good GA companies using the airport such as Mauna Loa Helicopters.
Please convince the Hawaii government that it needs to change. Yes, Hawaii needs to stay beautiful and "pure."
However, if you compare a Hawaii GA terminal to reputable ones in the mainland, it is sad.
