Human and child trafficking is a chilling reality for many in the United States.The United States is a source, transit, and destination for many victims of human trafficking. Human trafficking is the modern form of slavery in the 21st century.
Law enforcement often neglects the special needs and situation of the victims. S.178 Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015, would create a fund for victims of human trafficking and encourage law enforcement to focus on victim-centered approaches.
President Obama should support the bipartisan Senate bill S.178 and highlight human trafficking as a key issue of 2015.
