Many kids don’t care if they get in trouble at school, and neither do their parents. If a student is suspended for bullying another student and their parents don’t punish them, then the suspension is nothing more than a day off from school. A law that would fine those parents would motivate them to punish their child, preventing further instances.
The bill would focus on serious cases of repeated bullying that result in failing grades, injury, emotional/mental illness (like depression), or attempted suicide. What will be considered bullying will not be limited to only face-to-face bullying at school, but also bullying over the internet (such as on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), off school campus, and in both physical and verbal forms.
