We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Support the Black Lives Matter movement

Created by R.D. on July 11, 2016

Whereas, from the beginning of the United States of America, the government has sanctioned differential value of human life -and lower value for Black lives in particular (see 3/5 clause in U.S. Constitution, legalization of chattel slavery in some states, Supreme Court rulings such as Dread Scott vs. Sandford, and other examples), we the people of the United States call for acknowledgement and affirmation by the U.S. Government that Black life matters. We petition the White House to formally support the cause of the Black Lives Matter movement by issuing a statement affirming that the United States of America pledges from this day forward to grant full and equal protection, value, dignity, liberty and justice to Black people and their descendants, as it does to all citizens of America.
