With our current elections and news coverage, it is apparent that not selecting any candidate for an office results in a vote that doesn't count. We the people have been voting for the lesser of two evils for decades at least. It is time the people get more power at the polls.
I petition for support to spread this idea on balancing the election process. This idea is in addition to current winning conditions for each office.
For a candidate to serve a full term without incurring a term limit penalty, the candidate in addition to having a majority vote must also have 50% of the total vote including abstained votes, where the voter cast a ballot but chose no candidate for the office. If not, either the winning candidate cannot be reelected or the office is up for election in 2 years.
