In the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre it is time for the people of the United States to reconsider the constitutional protection afforded gun ownership. It no longer makes sense to protect the ownership of weapons that did not exist when the founders wrote the constitution and that have as a primary purpose the killing of people. However, the culture of hunting is widely respected and deeply engrained in many parts of the United States. So, I submit that other than guns primarily designed for hunting, it is time to permit government to regulate the ownership of guns. This will reduce the danger to citizens of the misuse of weapons by the mentally ill and criminal elements of our society.
It is time to act to protect our children and ourselves. Support the Sandy Hook Amendment.
