In the State of the Union Address, Mr President, you stated "It is our unfinished task to make sure that this government works [to]... open[s] the doors of opportunity to every child across this great nation." A child's safety, healthcare and development into a productive adult benefit from constructive interaction between the parents and the child. Parent and child struggling together with an issue so burdensome as the need for an abortion is one of the most difficult, but constructive, challenges they may face together. Parents know details of the child's healthcare history that may be critical to the safety of anesthetic procedures. We, the undersigned, urge the Administration to support the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act:
