Support Congressional Legislation to admit Puerto Rico into the Union as a state on an equal basis of the other 50 state

Created by K.P. on December 14, 2012

On November 6, 2012, a majority of voters in Puerto Rico voted in favor of full statehood. It was the first time in the 114 year history of Puerto Rico's American history that the island has voted in favor of statehood. Every US territory that has ever voted for statehood has eventually been granted that status. Puerto Rico is home to four million US citizens who pay Federal taxes. Many Puerto Ricans have served in the US miltary, fighting honorably in every US war since 1898. It is time for Puerto Rico to assume its rightful place in the Union of the United States of America. It is time for the people of the United States to extend the rights and responsibilities of full statehood to the people of Purto Rico. It is time for Puerto Rican statehood. It is time for the 51st state.
