We, the People, encourage the President to consider an Amendment to the United States Constitution barring citizens over the age of 80 from holding a seat in Congress.
It is an unfortunate fact of life that as we age, our abilities become limited, and elder Congressmen and Senators are frequently absent from the work we, the People, elected them to do. This is not only a problem with elder statesmen, but also Congress as a whole. Further, our national security may be at risk if one or more prominent committee members fall ill and are unable to perform the duties of their office.
Instead, we ask that at the age of 80 they automatically retire and allow others to take their seats in subsequent elections.
