Technological advancement over the course of human existence has allowed mankind to overcome all obstacles it has faced and to survive, thrive, and create the modern world. The challenges facing mankind today (hunger, clean water, poverty, climate change, disease, clean energy generation, social inequality, terrorism...) and the consequences of failing to meet them are no less pressing and grave then they were for our hunter-gather ancestors. To meet the challenges of the modern world requires a sustained commitment to technological and scientific progress. This petition is intended to support the return of science to its rightful place by appropriately directing and applying the treasures of America.
