The Administration should support a Constitutional Amendment to implement retention referenda for Supreme Court Justices.
Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life, but with nominees getting younger and younger while expected life spans grow longer and longer, there is more time for the public to lose confidence or for the Justices to become out of touch.
Each Presidential election cycle, three Supreme Court Justices (going through all nine before repeating anyone) should appear at a time on the ballot, simply asking if they should remain on the Court. If more than 55-60% of the voters oppose the Justice remaining, they should be removed. The process for filling those vacancies should remain the way it is now.
