Support the creation of an amendment to the constitution which would eliminate the electoral college

Technological developments during the past century have led to the electoral college becoming an outdated mechanism when voting for president. With televised debates and internet access growing, our voters are now informed enough to make decisions without the electoral college. The election of the president ought to be decided with the popular vote. This will prevent the election of presidents who lack popular support and truly make every vote equal. The president should announce support for the creation of a constitutional amendment by congress. Although he cannot create an amendment to the constitution himself, his support of an amendment will send the message to the country that we ought to move on the path towards progress in an ever changing world.
