The representativeness of our democracy is abysmal. This is in large part due to the disillusionment caused by the donor class buying off much of our government and disillusioning the electorate in the process.
A proposed ballot initiative in Colorado creates a refundable tax credit available to all eligible electors who cast a ballot in a general election. The credit would work out to about $50 and would be funded by a .5% increase in the state income tax of the top 1% (income over $405,000 in CO).
This would substantially boost turnout, and in turn go a long way towards restoring the integrity of our democracy. I'd like to know if you support it.
