I don't think we need an electoral college anymore. In speaking with my peers, many choose not to vote because they feel their vote doesn't count because of the electoral college. I realize this voting reform has been suggested before and would require a constitutional amendment, but shouldn't our election process directly reflect the major preference of its citizens? The 12th amendment states that the elector must represent all the votes for all the candidates , "The Electors shall meet... and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President... and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, AND OF THE NUMBER OF VOTES FOR EACH".
