Economic Sadism and Masochism is rampant in our country and this concerns me. The CEO of Hostess in 2012 cut his employee’s pay by 8% and gave himself a raise while the company was going through bankruptcy. He reduced demand for the economy. Basic economics tells us that two determinants of demand are income and the number of consumers. A loss in either one of these economic contributions in your consumer base results in a reduction in demand. This is an economic fact. The economy experiences a reduction in demand in instances when CEOs choose to reduce their economic contributions, because they decide they should be “compensated more for their performance." Please sign this petition to link CEO pay to Employee pay in order to end this form of economic masochism and sadism.
