The Peshmerga ("Those who Confront Death") are the men and women of the armed forces of the Kuridsh Autonomous region. Currently engaged in fighting the spread of the Islamic State, the Peshmerga will need international support if they are to see victory against this growing threat. The United States must support the efforts of these brave fighters in any way possible. Consider this - the Peshmerga face death not only in defense of their own territory, but also in defense of US citizens who are targets of the Islamic State. If we wish to see this threat curtailed, we must invest what we can in maintaining the stability of the Kurdish authorities and their defense forces.
