Support Ely, Minnesota's ban on social media!

Created by E.C. on March 31, 2013

Let's face it, we all spend too much time staring down at small handheld screens, checking emails, Facebook, Twitter and the like. We spend too much time on our laptops and tablets and desktop computers checking out silly videos on YouTube and Facebook postings and Harlem Shake parodies. Ely, Minnesota wants to do something about it. It's so beautiful up here in the spring and summer - over a million acres of pristine wilderness and hundreds of crystal clear lakes, just for starters - that we want to ban social media in this part of northern Minnesota. Instead, we want to encourage each other, as well as visitors, to talk face-to-face, meet real characters on our town's streets, and look up from our screens to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Please support our effort!
