An amendment to the United States Constitution declaring women equal to men under the law is long overdue. It is shocking and disgraceful that a simple amendment like The Equal Rights Amendment has not been ratified. The ERA demands that the "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." It was passed in 1972, but was three states short of ratification. The Obama Administration has shown its support for the ERA, but has yet to take any strong action to get the ERA ratified. I ask that the Obama Administration cut federal funding for employment stimulus programs by 15% in states that have not yet ratified this amendment to show that the U.S. workforce will not be complete until women are equal.
