support federal paid parental leave policies which are necessary for the development of healthy children

Created by C.K. on July 04, 2014

Only three state -California, New Jersey and Rhode Island - have enacted paid parental or medical leave policies. There is currently a bill proposed to bring by New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D) and Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D) that would provide up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave by raising the payroll tax on employers and employees by 0.2 percentage points.

The United States needs to be in alignment with other industrialized countries. France, Spain, Norway, UK, Greece, Finland, Canada, Germany and Sweden have multiple weeks of paid leave with additional weeks unpaid.
