The United States spends too much and gets too little for our healthcare dollars. I support a Single-Payer Health Care system (built around the Medicare for All idea) because it would dramatically reduce costs by promoting effective risk-pooling, encourage the development and use of primary care resources, allow payments for outcomes rather than inputs, and move patients from the emergency room to the doctor's office.
Such a law would reduce costs for patients, employers, providers, and governments. It would thus permit equal access for those too poor to access care under the current system. Radical simplification of insurance would save trillions of dollars for all parties and dramatically increase the quality of healthcare outcomes.
