A small levy on financial speculation called the Financial Transaction Tax has the potential to raise significant revenues and dampen the short-term speculation that continues to threaten our countries financial stability.
The EU’s proposed FTT will raise almost $70 b annually. In the US, it's estimated that one U.S. financial transaction tax proposal would raise $176 b a year. Even a smaller tax could raise tens of billions per year.
The FTT would have the additional benefit of limiting the high frequency trading that has increased harmful volatility in many financial markets.
It's been three years since the financial meltdown and Wall Street has record profits while Main Street is still suffering. It's time to call on Wall Street to do more to aid the recovery. Please Support the FTT.
