The dangers of poor or no regulation of drug compounding facilities are currently in the headlines causing substantial illness and death. Congressional efforts underway include those by several Representatives, including those in the Energy and Commerce Committee. The Food and Drug Administration is considering action within its purview. These and all other efforts should be supported to the most reasonable extent to limit compounding pharmacies from being the source of morbidity and mortality in the future. Trust needs to regained by the American public in its drug supply sources.
