I am petitioning the President, the members of the House of Representatives, and the Senate to support gun control legislation that would eliminate the sale of automatic and semi-automatic assault rifles, large capacity clips, and the Glock and similar handguns. I also petition these members to make changes to our mental health care system so that the mentally ill have sufficient access.
The supposed "right to bear arms" should not override a person's right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
There are 1.25 million mentally ill inmates in the U.S. justice system, compared to only 40,000 in mental health hospitals.
I believe that it is time for reasonable people to come together and make reasonable decisions about these very important issues.
