Support a gun tax.

Created by B.M. on December 21, 2012

The NRA wants to put police in every school. Lets to the math: 248,000 public schools in the US. Median cost of police salary in 2006: $47,590. Lower estimate of cost of the NRA plan: $11.8 billion a year. Add to that the $20 billion a year low estimate of the cost of gun violence in the US. Total bill: $31.8 billion a year. Divide this amount by 200 million registered guns. Average gun registration tax would be $159 a per year. Implement a sliding fee scale and exempt hunting rifles. AR 15s and other guns that fire bullets really fast pay more (speed kills). As long as gun enthusiasts pay the bill I support the idea of least one armed police person in every school. The freedom to bear arms is not free. Time for those who want to more guns to pay the bill. Simple as that.
