I am writing to ask your help in reversing the federal mandate requiring all health insurance plans to pay for contraceptives, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs. I am Catholic, and those practices go strongly against my faith, as well as other faiths.
More importantly, this mandate violates the freedom of religion promised in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The state cannot tell a religious organization what aspects of its religious belief afford protection under the law. That is not the role of government, and is the reason for the protections of the First Amendment.
Stop this severe assault on religious freedom and on the foundation of our country.
