The Obama Administration should support H.R. 2306: Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2011.
The prohibition of marijuana is failing miserably. It is costing the nation copious amounts of money to inefficiently enforce, inhibiting medicinal research that could greatly benefit modern medicine, and preventing the production of the many resources that can derive from the fibrous plant. This costly war on cannabis is futile much like the prohibition of alcohol in 1920’s. It is possible to legalize marijuana for responsible adult recreational use. It is time for the government to accept the reality behind marijuana; it is time for America to reform its injudicious marijuana laws.
