Support the Insurance Fairness for Amputees Act

Created by S.P. on April 15, 2014

This would ensure that the prosthetic that your doctor prescribes is the prosthetic you receive; not the one the insurance company is willing to pay for.

It is outlandish that insurance companies list prosthesis as "Durable Medical Equipment" lumping them in the same category as crutches and beside commodes. It is unconscionable that some insurance companies have a $2000 maximum on prosthesis, considering most microprocessor controlled prosthesis cost at least $60,000.

The Insurance Fairness Act would finally recompense these wrongs. It will help bring to the forefront that not every amputee has the ability to fight the insurance company, or even know that they can.
