The United States government, notably the State Department, has taken a hostile attitude towards certain countries by banning the adoption of children born in those countries. Notable among these are Vietnam, Guatemala, Cambodia, Fiji, Cape Verde, Rwanda and Senegal. All of these countries are Hague Convention signatories. While domestic adoption is equally desirable, it is not always an available option. International adoption is a wonderful way to create forever families and add to the richness and beauty of this country. Please end the inter agency jockeying and posturing that makes the United States look bad and interferes with the adoption process.
