This is a petition to urge the Obama administration to support Congressman Jason Chaffetz's Internet Radio Fairness Act.
The author of this petition believes that for too long internet radio has been discriminated against, in particular, in terms of the exception that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act imposed on internet radio relative to satellite radio.
While the DMCA required the Copyright Royalty Board to consider various factors when setting royalty rates satellite radio must pay for the broadcasting of digital recordings, it imposed on internet radio the more stringent "willing buyer and willing seller" standard.
If such legislation is enacted, the author believes that the CRB will be required to take into account the same factors accorded satellite radio when setting rates.
