support the introduction of legislation to require disclosure of the discovery of software and hardware vulnerabilities

Created by P.U. on November 03, 2015

Vulnerabilities are often discovered in the software and hardware that comprise our daily lives. Such vulnerabilities present a risk to the privacy and security of our citizens. Legislation should be introduced and signed into law that codifies a requirement on the part of those who discover such vulnerabilities to disclose them to the manufacturer of the affected software and/or hardware.

Additionally, manufacturers that produce software and/or hardware of all types should be required to have a publicly known vulnerability reporting procedure and to disclose in a timely fashion the knowledge of confirmed vulnerabilities to a governmental agency that is capable of recording and ensuring such vulnerabilities that might affect the security of our nation are resolved.
