support a law fixing compensation of members of congress to be equal to the median income in the U.S.

The unnecessarily high pay of members of congress tends to attract the wrong people for the job--people more concerned about themselves than about the country as a whole. By fixing their salary to be equal to the pay of the median worker in the U.S., they would have an incentive to pursue policies that actually benefit the common consumer. More importantly, the support or lack thereof from these lawmakers for such a bill would help to expose them for what they truly are.
