Support legal arguments for gay marriage at the federal level

Created by E.S. on July 03, 2013

Recognizing that:

->gay marriage opposition bases it's reasoning primarily in religion and
->the First Amendment disallows laws intended to enforce religion

It is requested that:

->The White House take the stance that gay marriage bans are a first amendment violation of the rights of anyone not holding anti-gay religious beliefs, and of any gay persons wishing to get married and
->The White House take the stance that gay marriage must be allowed as long as marriage is legally recognized in any way, on the same First Amendment grounds

In short:
It is requested that the White House formalize a stance on gay marriage that recognizes that the religious nature of gay marriage opposition effectively constitutes a First Amendment violation.
