Support Legislation Promoting Shared Custody of Children with Divorced Parents.

Created by E.G. on November 18, 2014

Sen Katrina Shealy is seeking to introduce a bill that calls for parents to share almost equal amounts of time with a child, unless there is proof of abuse or neglect on behalf of either parent.

We petition that, when two parents with custody of a child separate or divorce, there is a rebuttable legal presumption that equal legal custody and equal or nearly equal physical custody is in the best interest of the child.

Mr. President, as a father of two daughters, you understand that shared parenting is essential for the well-being of children. Please use you influence to support this bill.

Although child custody is a state matter, the rights of children and their parents are inalienable, and protected by the federal government.
