Support legislation to remove the Dietary Guidelines For Americans (DGA) from the Departments of the USDA and HHS.

Created by T.J. on March 01, 2016

Every five years the USDA and HHS publish new dietary guidelines since 1980. However, the DGA are a political document. These guidelines are not solely based on the current, best scientific data on nutrition available. Before guidelines are published the Secretaries of the USDA and HHS receive a scientific report from a committee comprised of nutrition experts based on the most current nutritional research. If one compares the scientific report to the published DGA, a person can readily see how the scientific report is dumbed down due to the various interests of the big business food industries which the USDA is also mandated to promote. Some members on the committees of the USDA and HHS have financial interests with the big food industries.
