Our country's water and sewer system is aging with frequent bursts in the system. This will have to be addressed soon, so why not now when we have so many who need the work? Average age of sewer lines in NY city is 76 years and Kansas City 54 years. Clearly, this is a big project for the whole country which needs to systematically and competently be considered. State and local governments should work with the Federal government to plan for methodical and staged replacement of this critical system.
