Support a Movement to establish Congressional Term Limits

Thomas Jefferson urged a limitation of tenure, "to prevent every danger which might arise to American freedom by continuing too long in office..." Term limits would ensure a constant turnover of both senators and representatives in the U.S. Congress and better allow a flow of fresh ideas, help prevent long standing obligations to special interests, abuse of privileges, and restore faith in our elected officials. Along with term limits would come the reform of perks and benefits such as retirements and healthcare...those could be contributory plans limited to the length of elected service.
This petition is requesting support for a Constitutional Convention or amendment to enact a limit of not longer than 12 years total of combined service in either or both, the Senate or Congress.
