Music programs, especially in high schools, help improve a student's educational aptitude. A study done by the College Board, a major non-profit organization responsible for administering the SAT exams, showed that SAT takers with an experience in musical performance scored 57 points higher (verbal portion) and 43 points higher on the math portion of the test. Furthermore, students who have taken the SAT that has a coursework in music education showed 62 points higher on verbal portion and 41 points higher on the math portion. With educational aptitude on the decline in the U.S, it's crucial to provide federal support to a program that has much more concrete evidence of improving a student's educational aptitude than what's already provided.
