On 16 April 2014, the MV Sewol capsized carrying mostly High School students. 304 people died and 10 victims are still at sea.
The reasons for the sinking caused widespread social/political reaction in S. Korea: the actions of ferry crew/operations but notably the S. Korean government’s slow response and downplaying gov’t culpability have hurt victims’ families.
The families have one request: pass a bill to fully inspect the cause by unbiased parties. The gov’t and the Saenuri Party denied. Presently a grieving father who lost his daughter is on a 42-day hunger strike. I hope this petition will save this man and bring peace to many others.
It’s embarrassing to petition for the Obama Administration’s aid but this is the only chance to press the government to treat tragedies with respect.
