As you may know, the Army Corps of Engineers, at the request of President Obama, has announced plans to evict protesters from their encampment at Standing Rock. The pipeline, which is to be routed directly beneath the Missouri River -- is the property of Sunoco, who just last month spilled 55,000 gallons of oil into rivers in Pennsylvania. This pipeline WAS to be routed closer to Bismarck, ND, but this largely white community rejected the project due to concerns about their drinking water. It was thus re-routed right next to Indian Reservation lands -- which obtain their water from the river. Native peoples have suffered atrocities for 500 years. Please sign this petition to ask President Obama to stand with the Standing Rock community.
