Support Parental Notification Protect Teen Girls from Abortion and Sex Abuse
The Problem:
Did you know ? In California, a girl under 18 years can't get a flu shot, a cavity filled , or an aspirin dispensed by the school nurse without a parent knowing. BUT a surgical or medical abortion can be performed on a minor girl (under 18) without even informing one parent.
The Solution:
Parental Notification will require that a parent be notified at least 48 hours before an abortion is performed on his or her daughter under the age of 18 (with a judicial bypass for cases of parental abuse)
In Minnesota:
Since 1989 when parental notification went into effect, abortions performed on minors have dropped 71.7 percent.
