Forty-nine states allow concealed carry of firearms for personal defense. Most states require a permit to do so. HR 822 would require all states to honor the permits issued by other states just as all states honor drivers licenses issued by the other states. The Supreme Court of the US has recently affirmed this individual right as guaranteed by the Second Ammendment to the Constitution. The citizens of the various states that have gone through the process of obtaining a permit are among the most law abiding citizens in the land. They pose no threat to any person except criminals who might try to attack them or their families. This does not change when they cross a state line. They would still have to follow the laws of the state they are in. This is a basic and unique US freedom.
