Regardless of other factors, all Americans of any race, color, gender, creed, sexual orientation, religion or other affiliation, will be subjected to ageism and age discrimination either in the workplace for loss of employment, or through age discriminatory hiring practices.
Age discrimination is the universal discrimination that affects most every adult over age 50.
At the present time, 54% of long term unemployed people in the country are over age 50. These highly motivated and skilled workers are being selected out of even the most menial positions by overt discriminatory practices in employment.
Even with Bi-partisan support for Senate Bill S 1391 cited ‘Protecting Older Workers Against Discrimination Act’ has less than a 3% chance of passing without support from the President .
