Created by D.L. on April 13, 2014

On February 6, 2014, President Obama's remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast on his Administration's ongoing efforts to secure Pastor Abedini's release, "We pray for Pastor Saeed Abedini. He's been held in Iran for more than 18 months, sentenced to eight years in prison on charges relating to his Christian beliefs. And as we continue to work for his freedom, today, again, we call on the Iranian government to release Pastor Abedini so he can return to the loving arms of his wife and children in Idaho." Clemency has been recently suggested by Iran's Foreign Minister Zarif, speaking to CNN about the Abedini case. He shared that, "We have various clemency measures in Iran that can be introduced, happened in the past, can be introduced again in these cases."
