Native Tribes at Standing Rock deserve protection from local law enforcement who are using riot assault tactics on peaceful protesters. State has no authority in matters of Treaty rights between the US Govt & Sovereign Tribal Govts.
The ND conflict is escalating in a way that will lead to serious harm/death to water protectors. We don't need another Wounded Knee. It is imperative that the US govt move into the conflict area to protect the Treaty rights of the water protectors & to distance all disputing parties.
ND National Guard could be placed under DOD jurisdiction or be replaced by an Army unit. Army Corps of Engineers could restrict access to Federal/disputed Treaty lands to minimize confrontation.
You agreed with the UN re: rights of Sovereign tribes' treaties - time for action.
