STEM-it's the hottest thing being pushed by those who have never been in the classroom, but have all the answers. Businesspeople, Educators, and of course Politicains say it's what we need more of. But are we really committed? If so, then why do we force our children to memorize a system of weights and measures that science NEVER uses? Thousands of educational hours are lost in this country due to this unnecessary duplication. Some schools have decided that recess should be spent in the classroom in order to have more instructional time. But what if instead we stopped teaching the nearly useless.
Mr. Obama, Senators and Congressmen, do the right thing. Phase out the Imperial system once and for all. Aim for complete conversion by 2020.
I vote for recess!
