In the current system, where politicians may serve consecutive and often unlimited terms, much time and focus is devoted to the next election; we often note that the decisions are made based on garnering votes for the next election, rather than the needs of the people, country, and the world, and that this distracts them from their jobs. Requiring that these elected officials, representatives and senators, not serve consecutive terms offers at least three major solutions. First, the officials will no longer have to be distracted from their duties by campaigning. Secondly, officials must plan further ahead, as long-term successes would determine reelection. Finally, this strategy will constantly rejuvenate Congress with new solutions, and help our officials to keep a good perspective.
