Support regulation of the news media

Created by M.M. on December 26, 2012

Freedom of the press is one of the liberties protected under the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution. It is the job of the press to inform the American people of what is happening across the country and the world. However, in recent years, journalists have lost sight of their duty to present the whole and unabridged truth and have made it their objective to bend the truth in order to get people interested, which leads to higher sales of newspapers and high TV ratings. In Layman's terms, journalism today is now driven by money. When any freedom is exploited, it can do more harm than good. This petition calls for further regulations on news outlets without infringement of the 1st Amendment and hold these outlets accountable if the info they present conflicts with official info.
